Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifies you to be a "high-end" handyman compared to just an average handyman?

Three reasons:

1. Experienced – Growing up as the son of a carpenter, I’ve been immersed in construction my whole life and a licensed General Building Contractor since 1989. I have extensive experience in both residential and commercial, remodeling and new construction, and multiple trades ranging from demolition, excavation, concrete foundations and flatwork, rough and finish carpentry, minor plumbing and electrical, insulation, drywall, tile work and hardware installation. I’ve worked on the humblest of single family homes to the mega mansions of the rich and famous. To call myself a “handyman” is an understatement to say the least, so I’m going with high-end handyman.

2. Meticulous – Attention to detail is a hallmark of my service, always taking great care to protect the surfaces in your home, working safely around your family and pets, and thoroughly cleaning up after I’m done.

3. Professional – I live by an honest, rational approach to business. I always strive to be clean, punctual, communicative, honest and friendly while getting the job completed in a timely and efficient manner.

Can you remodel my kitchen / bathroom or build a deck?
While I have provided these services in the past and am quite capable of handling larger projects, I no longer accept jobs that are likely to take much more than 8 hours to complete. This is in keeping with my Small Project Business Model

My drain is clogged! Can you unclog it?
It depends. While I have had lots of success clearing sink and tub drain clogs, I am not equipped to handle major blockages and it’s very difficult to determine over the phone, if the clog is minor or major. However, if you have other handyman projects that you’d like me to handle for you, I would be willing to spend a limited amount of time and attempt to unclog your drain, since I would be on site for the other tasks anyway. However, I cannot guarantee that I could successfully clear a major drain blockage. You might want to consider calling a drain specialist, since they will have a truck full of specialized tools to deal with a worst case scenario.
Do you take on painting projects?
Yes, if it’s a small project that can be completed in 2 – 8 hours. For example; within that time frame I could prep, prime and paint 2 coats of one color up to 100 sq. ft. of wall space, or 50 sq. ft. of ceiling. Other examples would be one or two pieces of furniture, a typical shelving unit or a couple of kitchen cabinets.
Do you do fence work?
I can do fence repairs, such as repairing a gate, refastening or replacing a loose or damaged fence board, rail or post. If you need to have large sections, or all of your fence replaced, I would recommend you contact a fence contractor as this would exceed the scope of my business.
Will there be a lot of dust and mess to clean up afterwards?
No – A key feature of my service is that I clean up during and after the project is complete. Even the smallest projects can generate a significant mess and so I’m always prepared with booties, drop cloths, surface protection pads, rags and cleaning products, and a triple filtered Hepa rated vacuum cleaner.

What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, check, credit cards* and PayPal*. Payment is due on completion of work. (* + 3% Credit Card Transaction Fee)
